There is only one actor that could have brought Tonto back to life, and that is Johnny Depp. I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie. Can't say I am a fan of Westerns, but because Johnny was starring in it I wanted to check it out.
I was so pleasantly surprised. It was packed with action and the movie flowed so well I didn't even realize the it was 2 hrs & 25 min long. There is also a lot of humor.
Oh, and Armie Hammer is about to be a major star! He has old-school good looks, and is a fantastic actor with great comedic timing. You can really see that Armie and Johnny had a great time shooting this movie together.
The actors did most of their own stunts, too. The director, Gore Verbinski is not into using green screens or CGI. They made real trains, and he had the actors hanging and jumping off the moving props. There is one scene where Armie Hammer is on a tower on top of a mountain -and yes, that's really Armie standing on the top, no stunt double!
The movie opens Wednesday, July 3rd, so it's a great 4th of July weekend movie. It's rated PG-13 for sequences of intense action and violence, and some suggestive material.
The cast revealed that they have signed on for seguels, so be ready for Lone Ranger 2!
