1.) Paula Abdul is in Town: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hi-Limits Grand Opening Today! In celebration of its new amenities and ranking as one of world’s biggest casinos, the casino is hosting an invite-only meet and greet with multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning singer and Emmy Award winning choreographer Paula Abdul and an open-to-the-public after party with world-famous DJ Ravi Drums. We gave away tickets to meet Paula yesterday to Stephanie from St. Pete! It is an invite-only event with Paula, but if you are at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino you never know who you might run into at the slot machines ;) Click here for more info!
2.) Monopoly Token to Get the Boot: So in an attempt for Hasbro to bring Monopoly "cooler" they are introducing a new token and replacing another. NOOOO, not the thimble! Your new choices are the diamond ring, guitar, toy robot, cat or helicopter. Click here to vote for your favorite token and which of the old tokens you want to save.
3.) Stuff Your Face & Watch: The Miss America Pageant Saturday at 9pm on ABC. My mom and I would pig out on junk food and watch the girls strut around in their high heels and bikinis. Total bonding! I am from where the pageant originated (Atlantic City, New Jersey) so it's special to me, and just mindless fun tv. And face it, it's either watch this or playoff football. Plus, it will be a pageant to make history. Miss Montana has Autism. She will be the first person diagnosed with Autism to compete in the pageant. Oh and there is a Special Edition of 20/20 -- Pageant Confidential: The Road to Miss America on at 8pm. EEEKK!
4.)Blowing Up on the Web: George Clooney and Cindy Crawford's husband, Randy Gerber, are coming out with their own tequila, called Casamigos. Well, of course George had to make a funny commercial to promote it. Classic Clooney. And George's girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, and Cindy Crawford appear in the commercial, too.
5.) Golden Globe Awards: Sunday, January 13th @ 8pm on NBC - The ladies are taking over! Tina Fey & Amy Poehler are teaming up to host this year, and from the TV commercials it is sure to be a great show (or at least I hope so). No pressure Tina and Amy! The Globes are normally a foreshadowing for who may win the Oscars. But the fun thing about the Globes is that they just don't focus on movies, but they also honor your favorite TV stars and shows!
Bonus:
Lightning Fan Fest: Sunday, January 13, 10a-3p @ Tampa Bay Times Forum (doors open @ 9a) - This is something that I am personally giddy about, so I wanted to share with all of you.
Here is the deal: Fans should park in either the Forum East or Forum West Lot and enter through the main entrance. Lightning players will sign autographs for fans from 10-11 a.m. They will then head back to the locker room and get ready as Guy Boucher will lead the first practice of the season from 12:30-2 p.m. Between the autograph session and practice there will be commentary provided by Bolts management, coaches and broadcasters. ThunderBug and the Lightning Girls will also be on hand. CLICK HERE for more info.
Go Mickey Mouse! This weekend is the 20th annual Walt Disney World Marathon: Runners from around the world are coming to Walt Disney World for this! The Walt Disney World Half Marathon and Marathon start at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Our Promotions Director, Rebecca, is running in the marathon on Sunday! I can't believe she is going to run 26.2 miles! Go girl! She is good with the 26, it's the .2 that really get her. LOL
All race events are sold out. There is a Cool Down Party at Downtown Disney Westside beginning at 4:00 on Sunday allowing runners to unwind. There will be food, music and last minute commemorative merchandise shopping. Admission to the Cool Down Party is open to anyone. Get more info at www.rundisney.com.
