MIAMI, Fla (970 WFLA/NHC)- The center of Tropical Storm Humberto was located near latitude 13.4 north...longitude 22.8 west. Humberto is moving toward the west near 12 mph. This general motion should continue Monday. A turn toward the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed is expected by Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Humberto will pass South of the Southern Cape Verde Islands this afternoon and tonight and pass West of these islands on Tuesday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Humberto could become a hurricane on Wednesday.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles, mainly to the West and North of the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb.
