Suspect dies after shootout with Citrus deputies

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (TBO.com) - A suspect who forced his way into a Citrus County house Tuesday night is dead after a shootout with deputies.

Deputies, fire rescue crews and paramedics, responding to a possible domestic situation near Hampshire Boulevard just before 10 p.m., found 41-year-old David James Barclay, of Dunnellon, was armed and had forced his way into the home of his estranged wife to see his 3-year-old son.

After SWAT team also responded, deputies say Barclay exchanged gunfire with deputies.

He died at the scene, deputies say, and nobody in the home was hurt.
