LAKELAND, Fla. (970 WFLA) - The final report is out.
The Lakeland Police Advisory Committee has released its final report on all the travails of the Lakeland Police Department, including the department's sex scandal that resulted in the firing of several officers and a city employee .
The commitee presented its findings to the city commission. It has made 22 recommendations that include better training for suprevisors, more transparency with the public and city commissioners and a better relationship with the state attorneys office.
State Attorney Jerry Hill has been extremely critical of city administration and the chief in the handling of these latest controversies. He's even called for chief Lisa Womack to resign.
But committee chairman Bruce Abels says the department's mess is not Womack's fault and even praises the city's response to these issues.
