Clearwater, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-Pinellas County is teaming up with U.S.F. to check out all the beaches after the Tampa Bay area's ugly encounter with Tropical Storm Andrea.
Pinellas spokesman Tom Iovino says U.S.F.'s Dr. Ping Wang is leading the study. Wang's first impression is that the beaches may have only suffered minor damage. The group is working to get the final report back by next week.
The area's beaches were lucky that Andrea took just hours to have her way here. Tropical Storm Debby, you may recall, was a pain for the area for three days.
Andrea is just the first storm of the hurricane season and forecasters say it's going to be an active season.
Even with damage from tornadoes and flooding, Governor Rick Scott says the state dodged a bullet with Andrea. Scott continues to urge Floridians to prepare for the remainder of the season.
